a wedding gift for a friend

I found a pattern online that was originally published in 1945 for a crocheted purse. My friend is getting married in Oct and I thought I would make a smaller version and add some beading. First time working with beads (not so hard) but very time consuming to add the beads onto the threads.

Not quite sure how I will attach these all together, I've tried to single crochet through the back loops which is called for in the pattern, not sure I like the look. I might just hand sew them using the back loops.
